Located in the heart of the South Downs National Park.
Offering stunning countryside views and miles of walking trails only a short distance from the historic Cathedral city of Chichester.
Accommodation at Compton Farm comprises four well appointed self-catering cottages
each with its own fine rural views. We are proud to say that three out of our four properties are now heated by a carbon neutral ground source heating system, just one of the steps we've taken towards a more eco-friendly way of living.

THE BULL PEN
This characterful property, once home to the farm bull; has vaulted
ceilings an open fire and enclosed garden. With two fully accessible bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms The Bull Pen is well designed for a comfortable stay at any time of year. Sleeps 4, plus cots if required.

THE BARN
This four bedroom, three bathroom converted 19th century flint barn boasts disabled access, an open fire, vaulted ceilings and an outdoor Hot Tub in the garden.
Sleeps 8/10 including a sofa bed on the mezzanine, plus cots if required.

THE DAIRY
The Dairy is a two bedroom
property, both with en-suite facilities. The property boasts beamed ceilings and an open fire. Guests can enjoy downland views and a private garden with outdoor seating area.

THE PLOUGH SHED
A rural retreat for two, this cosy cottage offers views of ducks and geese on the pond from the enclosed patio and a wood burner for staying warm in the winter months. Refurbished in 2021 with open plan living area and new kitchen.

FACILITIES
Groups and Family parties
With 4 cottages clustered around the former Farmyard, we offer good package deals for long weekends
and /or weeks for groups taking a combination of cottages, all with excellent parking and good mutual
privacy.
Hens, Geese and Ducks
Close to the cottages we have a menagerie of resident Hens, Geese and Ducks, which live in an enclosed
run. Children are welcome to help feed them each morning [by arrangement] and collect any eggs.
When they are laying, Farm Eggs are available for sale

Log Fires
Wood fires in each cottage add to the evening ambience, and supplement the excellent central heating.
We supply logs and kindling from the farm through your stay.
Wifi and Connectivity
Free unlimited Wifi throughout your stay.
Cleaning and Laundry
The cottage will be clean and welcoming for your arrival; all linen, sheets and
towels are included. If you are staying two weeks we change all linen after the first week, or on demand.
Pets
Well behaved domestic pets are welcome by arrangement.
With enclosed gardens, the cottages are ideal for dogs. They can run on the sweeping open fields by the cottages , which give onto extensive mature woodlands and on to the Downs beyond.
Hot Tub

Enjoy the Hot Tub at any time of day, in the privacy of the garden, with a complementary glass of Prosecco.

THINGS TO DO
Set on the edge of the rural village of Compton with its village shop, tea room and pub, Compton Farm Cottages make the ideal self-catering base for exploring the south coast. Portsmouth historic dockyard, Chichester harbour and the golden sandy beaches of West Wittering are all within a forty minute drive.
Coast and Beaches
Chichester Harbour, with its extensive waterborne activities, is 8 miles distant.
The Solent, the centre of
UK sailing, is accessed via Portsmouth [ 12 miles].
Extensive sandy beaches on offer at West Wittering
[16 miles] and Hayling Island [10 miles].
Bosham [ 7 miles] offers beautiful but muddy creeks and walks.
The South Downs
The South Downs National Park offers extensive local footpaths and bridleways, giving fine coastal views.
The South Downs Way [ Winchester to Eastbourne] passes 2 miles north. More locally to the village ,
many circular walks from the cottages. With six well acclaimed rural pubs within 5 miles, a
warm and welcoming gastro-hostelry (Dogs included!) can be easily factored into a walk.
Cultural Visits
Many country houses and Estates , all with excellent tea rooms.
Uppark [NT] - 2 miles, visible from the grounds.
Stansted Park – 4 miles. House open through summer, Walled Gardens , Miniature railway, Yew maze,
Chapel and 19th century Arboretum.
Weald and Downland Museum – 9 miles. A fine display of rescued and re-erected buildings from
Medieval times to 1890s. Day courses in construction.
Pallant House Art Gallery Chichester - 10 miles.
A highly acclaimed display of contemporary Art
Goodwood -10 miles. House open in August.
Golf, Motor Circuit, Airfield. Famous for its
‘Revival’ and ‘Festival of Speed’ weekends
Cowdray Estate – 15 miles. Famous for its Polo and Golf.
Leisure and Sport
A wide range of activities including sailing, canoeing, horse riding , motocross, golf [6 course within 15 miles].

Falconry in Compton Village
For 2021 we have negotiated a deal with West Sussex Falconry of a 25% discount off a falconry display for clients staying in Compton Farm Cottages. Compton village has a good Tennis Court for free use by our guests, subject to booking.
The churches of the South Downs are well worth a tour, starting with the neighbouring Compton church.
